Hi. The Day 10 prompt for today’s #BlogFlash2012 is Success. I had a choice of two true stories I could share with you for this prompt, one was a personal success and the other is the one I chose. I hope you enjoy it!
SUCCESS
Dressed in a sparkling outfit, I put the finishing touches to my daughter’s hair and make-up for her first major freestyle dancing competition.
Her age group was called and split into heats – hers being heat one. I didn’t take my eyes from her as she flawlessly executed her routine in perfect time to the music, while judges looked on, noting their favourites.
I hugged her as she came off the floor, hoping for her number to be called for Round Two. They only needed twelve competitors.
Two faultless performances later and we waited with baited breath.
Her name was announced – she’d made it to the Nationwide Championships!

Thank you. I was so proud of her that day as she was sooo nervous. She was about 15 at the time (bit of a late starter in competition terms), but she got bitten by the bug and didn’t stop competing until last year. She’s now 25! This story is about her Solo event. She went on to compete in Pairs, Rock n Roll and a year later a disco formation team which I coached, and she competed in all these events until her last competition in November last year.

I was a pro dance teacher for 14 years and in training for 3 years before that, but I’m not letting on exactly how old I am. Let’s just say I wasn’t late in the day having my daughter but I wasn’t 16 either!!

LOL, I ain’t letting on either Carlie! Coffee, I’m ready to move on to something stronger now! Been trying to get a lot done before returning my lemon laptop. :0(
LOL, didn’t think you would, Donna! I could do with something stronger than tea right now (can’t stand coffee!), but I’m not allowed to drink alcohol at the moment because of the medication I’m on :-(((

I hope your feeling better soon Carlie so we can pop over to Spit Toon’s Saloon! Got an upgrade on the laptop Friday, then router died on Saturday, and file restoration is taking days. I don’t think I’ve ever experienced such a comedy of errors like this in my life. I’m mentally exhausted, so I’m staying off the PC so it can restore and I can recharge my battery. No, none of the photos are actually my daughter. I did ask her if I could use some of her but she declined so I had to respect her wishes. But, although I’m biased, she is stunning and does have the legs of a dancer, well toned!

I totally agree! I’ve had quite a bit to celebrate with my daughter on her dancing successes over the years and I would rather celebrate 100 of hers than one of mine! Hers are much more important in my mind.

Thank you. She never ceases to make me proud of her, especially at the moment where she’s had to step up to the plate and take over the running of the house since my disability and she’s done it without a single word of complaint! She looks after me so well and has a full time job as well as trying to build up her editing business.
In terms of her dancing, since that first year, she’s got through to the Nationwide Championships every single year up to and including last year, so yes, I’ve been incredibly proud of her. We’ve now moved and her old dancing school is too far away now so she’s looking for one nearer as she eventually wants to follow in my footsteps and become a professional teacher.
