Guest Post by Tiffany Shand

As my final stop on the tour bus for the Denai Touch blog tour, I requested Tiffany to write a guest post for me. I asked her what inspired her to write this book.

Book Cover

So without further ado, I’ll hand you over to Tiffany…

My first guest post, exciting and slightly terrifyingly!

So, what inspired me to write Denai Touch?

I got bored of contemporary fiction when I was a teenager. My first urban fantasy novel was Dead Witch Walking by Kim Harrison and I absolutely loved it.

I’ve always had a fascination for witches and it was nice to read about them being portrayed in a different kind of way. I think this was probably what inspired me to start writing my own paranormal/urban fantasy novel.

As well as reading fantasy I also enjoy reading crime and studied law in college so that inspired me too.

I always knew I wanted to write a novel involving immortals who worked on some kind of law enforcement team and use their powers to help people and solve crimes.

The story went through several different incarnations before I finally settled on one idea.

The first character who I think was fully formed was my main character, Cate. The idea was there would be a woman who was extremely powerful and born with a lot of authority over people.

I wondered, what would this woman be like? And what kind of person would love her?

Thus began Cate and Jason’s story.

So there you have it. Thank you for that interesting post, Tiffany. If after everything you’ve read about this fantastic book you want to buy it for yourself, click here. And don’t forget to enter the giveaway here – you only have six days left!

It’s been great being part of this tour and helping Tiffany spread the word about her debut novel. I wish her the very best of luck with it!

Real People DO Win

Have you ever heard someone say, “There’s no point in entering, no-one ever wins”, or “There’s no point in entering, I never win anything”, or “These things are rigged, only  friends and family win”? I have – more times than I can count!

As you know, I recently ran a Rafflecopter giveaway with the launch of Heart Search: Betrayal and I thought it would be nice to celebrate with the winners and for everyone to see that real people DO win giveaways!

“What if you demanded a … hostage of sorts?”

Sadly, today is the last day of the Heart Search: Betrayal blog tour *wipes tear from eye*. I’ve had a great time and I hope you have too. I’m so grateful to everyone who has given up time and space on their blogs for me – I wouldn’t have got the word out about the book without you.

HS trilogy new

So what have we got for you today? First there’s an interview I did with the lovely Sherry Fundin. I met Sherry through her sister, Laura, when I was launching the second book in the series, Heart Search: Found and she quickly became a fan of the books. We had fun on the interview so click here to read it.

Next up is Sherry’s sister, the wonderful Laura Thomas, who has written a review of Betrayal. Laura has been a staunch supporter of the series since my first blog tour for Heart Search: Lost. To read her review click here.

Thirdly, we have the fantastic Emma Biddulph. I’ve told you before about how I met Emma so I won’t bore you with the details again. Today she’s posting a great excerpt. Click here to read it.

Last, but certainly not least, is the fabulous Maria V A Johnson. She is my ‘partner in crime’ at Eagle Eye Editors and without her, this series might not have been written at all. I have so much to thank her for! Maria twisted my arm for a guest post, something I said I wouldn’t do this time around, but in all honesty, how could I say no? So check out ‘Saying Goodbye and Hello’ on her blog here.

You now have just under three hours to enter the giveaway, so you need to get your entries in NOW. It closes at midnight tonight GMT. Here’s the link again: a Rafflecopter giveaway

You still have time to enter the competition from yesterday’s blog for two eBooks of Heart Search: Betrayal. I’ll be accepting entries until midnight GMT on 28th February.

Good luck and may the odds be ever in your favour!

“Inspired and Bonkers”

Well, it’s the penultimate day of the Heart Search: Betrayal blog tour and have I got a treat for you!

Today, the fabulous Ross M Kitson, author of the Darkness Rising series and Infinity Bridge, and fellow member of Myrddin Publishing, has reviewed my novel. I feel really honoured that such an amazing writer would be interested in my work, but Ross has reviewed my two previous books and was intrigued by how I would finish the story. This is an awesome must read! Click here to see what he thinks.

Today we have a post from the lovely Emma Biddulph. I first met Emma in 2011 when I took part in NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month where you try to write 50,000 words in 30 days). Emma was one of the organisers for the Essex region and in 2012 she became the Municipal Liaison for Essex, which basically means she runs NaNoWriMo for our county. As I’ve taken part in this competition every year since, I’ve got to know Emma and we’ve become friends. Anyway, Emma has been writing reviews for the whole series during this blog tour and today she has posted her review of Betrayal. If you missed her previous reviews, her one for Heart Search: Lost is here and the one for Heart Search: Found is here. So, to read her terrific review of Betrayal, which she’s posted today, click here.

Psychic Revelations

As we enter the last week of the Heart Search: Betrayal blog tour, I can’t believe how quick the last two weeks have gone.

Anyway, today we have an excerpt hosted by author, Michelle Birbeck. We’ve been friends online for three or four years and I actually met her at FantasyCon in York last year. She’s a lovely lady! Click here to read it.

You’re also running out of time to enter the FREE giveaway. If you’ve been following my posts you’ll have seen the fantastic items available. So don’t delay, enter now while you still have a chance. Just click the link below.

A Bit of Kick-Arse

We’re now on day 10 of the Heart Search: Betrayal blog tour and have I got a treat for you today.

A lovely lady and friend, Laura Thomas, who jumped into the Heart Search: Lost blog tour at the last minute to help out and has supported my books ever since, has got a real kick-arse excerpt for you. Click here to read it.

The other post is an interview with eleven-year-old Hannah Greenland. She was a runner up in the Writebulb Christmas story writing competition and has since joined the group. In case you’ve forgotten, Writebulb is the writing group I run. Anyway, please show her some love and click here to read the interview.

Don’t forget about the competition on yesterday’s post – you have two days left in which to get your entry in, and if you haven’t checked out the giveaway yet, now would be as good a time as any, especially with the fabulous items on offer!

Great Balls of Fire

I have to say, yesterday didn’t quite go as planned. One of the two scheduled posts went live, but the other one didn’t. I kept waiting and waiting, but by the time midnight rolled around, I was too shattered to check anymore and went to bed.

So today I’m combining two days in one post. What has she got in store for us I hear you ask. Lots including a competition, is my reply.

First there is an excerpt posted by the lovely Joy Keeney. Someone discovers they have a new gift and to say it’s explosive is an understatement. Click here to see what it is and who’s got it.

Secondly, we have an interview with my friend and fellow author at Myrddin Publishing, Rachel Tsoumbakos. She’s just released a new book called Unremembered Things, which I’m reading at the moment, so you’ll be seeing my review on this soon. It was fun to go ‘down under’ and visit Rachel again. Click here to read more.

Thirdly, my friend and the person who made virtually all the fantastically gorgeous items for my giveaway, Sarah-Jane Bird (Made by Birdies), and the amazing trailer for the book, posts her review of Heart Search: Betrayal. Click here to see if she loved it or hated it.

Here’s a reminder of that amazing trailer:

There might be a fourth post to add to the list, but I’m waiting for the time difference to catch up to find out. That’s the only problem when you have people in different time zones, however, I wouldn’t have it any other way, especially with those people who have been with me ever since Heart Search: Lost was first launched. I count everyone of those people my friends and am eternally grateful for all the help and support they’ve given me along the way.

Now for the competition. Just to see if you’ve been paying attention – who was the first person to give Heart Search: Betrayal a 5-star review during the blog tour. All the correct entrants names will be put into a randomizer and one person will receive a free eBook of Heart Search: Betrayal. Deadline for entries is midday GMT on 18th Feb.

Now don’t forget to enter the Giveaway if you haven’t done so already. Here’s the link in case you missed it before.
